Here's the pics from last year:

 Report from Colonel Doug:

The fourth annual Deer Lake Rock Bass Derby was a smashing success. There was a great deal of smashing into the Sherwood Forest camp dock as high winds from the south west send white caps pummeling the shore. Yet, in spite of the angry seas almost 70 wind tossed souls braved the adverse aquatic conditions to vie for the title of Rock Bass conqueror.
Our sincere thanks go to Dairy Queen of Grand Rapids and Subway of Grand Rapids for their generous contributions of dilly bars and sandwiches respectfully. Additionally Bens Bait Shop in the Rapids provided every contestant with jig heads and plastic baits.  These contributions made all participants winners irrespective of how many goggle eyed denizens they took from Deer Lake.
The winners in the 0 to 5 category were Noah Salsbury   biggest and Tommy Routt most. In the 6 to 10 group the Bushyager twins took the awards with Braeden getting most and Quinten  getting biggest. Jorden Quick got the biggest red eye of the tournament at 12 plus ounces and Conrad Dorn took most in the 11 to 15 group and the pro angler winners were Derek Routt most and his niece Lexie Routt biggest.  All participants helped reduce the Rock  Bass population  of Deer Lake which should bode well for all the other inferior fish species.

Here are the PICTURES:

Everybody put your game face on this is serious business.

Please take these smelly fish we don't want them.

These weigh a ton take my word for it.

Will you please weigh those things faster my knees are killing me.

Maybe we were a tad optomistic with this fish basket.

Best tournament to date!!

Stop pulling down on that fish or we will disqualify you.

Whoa, this leviathan rivals Moby Dick.

I didn't put that lead sinker in his mouth.

I'll trade you for a dilly-bar.

0.0 oz??

WOOFF WOOFF!!  My tummy is ready!

ROCK BASS TOURNAMENT RESULTS
THE ANNUAL ROCK BASS TOURNAMENT WAS HELD ON THE SECOND OF JULY OFF SHERWOOD DOCK ON A BEAUTIFUL SUMMER DAY AT DEER LAKE. THERE WERE FEWER PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR, HOWEVER, ALL WERE EAGER AND COMPETITIVE. THE ASSISTANTS WHO WERE FENDING OFF THE BOATS FROM CRASHING INTO THE DOCK WERE GREATLY RELIEVED TO HAVE QUARTERING WIND AS OPPOSED TO A DIRECT ON SHORE GALE AND IT RESULTED IN FAR FEWER SORE FINGERS HANDS AND TOES. THERE WERE NO PARTICIPANTS IN THE 0 TO 5 AGE GROUP WHICH MEANS THAT SPONGE BOB AND DORA POLES WILL NOT HAVE TO BE PURCHASED FOR NEXT YEARS GALA. THE 6 TO 10 AGE GROUP WAS TOPPED BY CHARLIE LEWIN WITH THE LARGEST AND LOGAN HOFFMAN WITH THE MOST. THE 11 TO 15 CATEGORY WAS WON BY HUNTER RYAN WITH THE MOST, A WHOPPING 99 RED EYES AND EMMET NUGENT WITH THE BIGGEST. IN THE PRO ANGLER CLASS THE BIGGEST AND RECORD FOR THE TOURNEY WAS CAUGHT BY LEXIE ROUTT WITH TRENT SCHULL GETTING THE MOST. ALL PARTICIPANTS GOT PRIZES AND CANDY AND GUM AND WE GRATEFULLY THANK DAIRY QUEEN OF GRAND RAPIDS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIIONS. ALTHOUGH WE MADE A SERIOUS DENT IN THE GOGGLE EYED DENIZENS OF DEER SUBSEQUENT FISHING TRIPS HAVE PROVEN ERRONEOUS THE NOTION THAT WE HAVE REMOVED ALL THE ROCKIES FROM THE LAKE.
