Frolic Silent Auction!
The Frolic is quickly approaching…August 13th 5 – 7 pm at Camp Hiawatha. Barbecue Dinner, entertainment and music. There will also be an auction to help raise funds for the work of the association. July 4th Deer Lake Pontoon Parade!
Yes, there will indeed be Two (2) Boat Parades again this year, on July 4th, beginning at 2pm!
We’ll all meet as usual @ the Point of Bear Island and
then will proceed with East and West Boat Parade groups, creating loops in the North Bay (East Group) and the West Lake
(West Group). We’ll meet back @ the Bear Island Point and float about a bit, weather permitting. Once again, please no
Political signs or garb – let’s collectively enjoy the holiday and our Heritage on this, the 250th Anniversary of our Country!

WABU WOODS Dedication Ceremony
The DNR and the Deer Lake Association are excited to announce the completion of a project to conserve Deer Lake water quality, including a new addition to Wabu Woods Scientific and Natural Area (SNA).
Please join us for a dedication event onsite on Thursday, June 25th at 1:00 p.m. Kids welcome! We will meet at the pull-off parking area on County Road 62 at the entrance to Wabu Woods SNA. Directions can be found here. Please note that parking is limited, so please consider carpooling. We are generally planning to hold the event rain or shine, but in case of forecasted lightning or other severe weather, we may meet earlier in the day. Please check the DLA Facebook page or SNA Facebook page for weather or other updates.Schedule of Events:

Bear Island Clean-Up
The next Bear Island Trail Maintenance get-together is scheduled for next Friday, July 10, at 9AM. Volunteers will meet at the south end of the island. The group will walk the trail, remove any fallen trees and branches blocking the path, pick up trash, etc. This will probably take about an hour, followed by coffee/beverages, some goodies and fellowship. It’s a good idea to wear long pants and gloves and consider bringing bug spray, loppers, etc.
Please call me at 651-230-3361 if you have any questions or if you want to coordinate boating out there with someone. Not required, but please let me know if you may attend; it helps in planning the donut purchase.

Deer Readers Book Club
Sept 9 – Wednesday, 3pm: Host: Jack & Susie Jones Book & discussion leader: Prophet Song by Paul Lynch – Jack Jones. 3pm is the start time for our September meeting, since we first will have a business meeting (choosing books for next summer) followed by our regular book discussion.
