Deer/Pokegema Diagnostic

In 2013 Deer Lake participated in an extensive diagnostic study of the lake’s water quality. Comparisons were made between Deer and Pokegema. Deer is a spring-fed, true lake with a very small contributing watershed and a single small outlet; Pokegema is an impoundment (reservoir) among the Mississippi. While both are well developed along most of their shorelines, Deer Lake remains relatively free of aquatic invasive species and retains an especially high quality of water, “The Lake of Changing Colors.”
