ICE-OUT 2024

The ICE-OUT process during the spring of 2024 started early.  This followed an record late ICE-IN, finally freezing over complertely on January 4, 2024.

Picured below are the beginnings of what appears to be another record, this time for ICE-OUT.

 

February 29

Big freeze-up gives us a day of skating ice if you dare...

March 2

...but it all turns to mush the next day with 50 degree weather.

There is NO SNOW anywhere around Deer Lake now!

 

March 1: Ice already pushing up on shore, rearranging the Rip-Rap.

 

March 24

Sunny days and cold nights make for a SINGING Deer Lake.

March 27

Out of NoWhere came a Spring snow storm of over a foot on Deer Lake.

Finally we get a bit of Winter, immediately melting,

and turning off the Booming Lake Ice.

 

April 7

Warm days after a week of rain and wind have finally hastened

the ICE-OUT on Deer Lake.

 

April 9

Won't be long before we have ICE-OUT on Deer Lake,

again the last lake to join the club.

 

April 11

ICE-OUT!
